A tribute to the sacrifices of the American Soldier
And make no mistake... your freedom does not come from the President or Congress---although they CAN take it away.... A Soldier paid for your freedom.
God Bless these heroes...

The Iwo Jima Flag Raisers
Top pic is the 6 guys who raised the flag in that famous photo (2nd picture). Three of these guys never came home. The Flag photo, taken by Joe Rosenthal won the 1945 Pulitzer Prize. The photo below is a copy of the original before any cropping was done.
Of the six men depicted in the picture, three (Franklin Sousley, Harlon Block, and Michael Strank) were killed during the battle; the three survivors (John Bradley, Rene Gagnon, and Ira Hayes) became celebrities upon their identification in the photo. The picture was later used by Felix de Weldon to sculpt the USMC War Memorial, located adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery just outside Washington, D.C.
