Joe Dan Gorman , a Milt Friedman, Ronald Reagan, Mark Levin Conservative, returned to playing and writing again after nearly an 18 year hiatus. He considers himself more of a writer/composer than a player. However, Joe Dan does play every instrument that you hear in the videos. Born in Dallas TX in 1961, and raised in Hazard Kentucky, Joe Dan began playing in his first garage band in 7th grade. At age 16, Joe Dan was introduced to the recording studio by concert pianist Davis Syme.
After "almost" record deals with major labels (RCA & A&M) in New York City and Los Angeles, Joe Dan became frustrated with over 100 songs and no audience. He was told to "change his southern accent". Of course that never happened. The record companies were the gatekeeper and Joe Dan was locked out. In 1991, he shut down his studio, and went back to school. The biggest part of the next 18 years were spent in Arizona, where Joe Dan became the proud father of J.D. Gorman, Jr. who was born in 1993.
Joe Dan became vice president of a real estate investment firm and a real estate broker in Tucson. After losing his father, Joe P. Gorman in 2007, Joe Dan left the desert and moved to Kansas City to work with his real estate mentor, and aunt, Jean.
In June 2009, Joe Dan started putzing around with some movie making software... and things were about to change. For fun, he put together an Obama Parody called "I Will Follow Him" where Joe Dan makes fun of the media's love affair with our current president. People loved it.
JoeDanMedia debuted on YouTube, July 2, 2009.
After running into copyright issues with other people's music on some of his other projects, Joe Dan decided to see if he could still write and play well enough to throw something together. He could.
JoeDanMedia started cranking out cool video after cool videos, Don't Tread On Me, Milton's Question, Under the name of liberalism, The Morticians... All 5 star rated on YouTube. All were instrumental.
Then in late August Joe Dan began working on another instrumental piece, Silent No More---but there was a problem. This music needed vocals. That's when we discovered his very unique singing voice, and his "in your face" lyrics.
The next one, Soldier was powerful. A few people said it made them cry---Combat Vets wholeheartedly approved....and it rocked.
Joe Dan slaps around the Mainstream Media in "Mainstream Mis-Information", And in "MR NOBEL - Can U Hear Us Now"--- Joe Dan offers a compelling 'couonterpoint' to the Nobel Committee.
Some songwriters just seem to have "that" magic---and Joe Dan has it.
We're damn glad you're here.
All the best,
J.W. Leslie White, Jr.
